Are You Eligible?

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the MRA grant, your company must meet all of the following criteria. Green Motion Academy can help you verify your eligibility and prepare your application.

  • Registered in Singapore — Business entity must be registered and operating in Singapore.
  • 30% Local Equity — At least 30% of shares held directly or indirectly by Singapore Citizens or Permanent Residents (based on ultimate individual ownership).
  • New to Target Market — Annual sales in the target market must not have exceeded S$100,000 in any of the preceding three years.
  • SME Status — Group annual sales turnover not exceeding S$100 million OR group employment size not exceeding 200 employees.

Quick SME Check

If your company meets the 30% local shareholding requirement and your group turnover is below S$100M (or fewer than 200 staff), you likely qualify for the enhanced 70% funding rate.

Non-SMEs may still qualify for support at different rates. We assess every case individually.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Market Readiness Assistance (MRA) Grant?

+

The MRA grant is a Singapore government initiative that helps companies expand into new overseas markets by funding up to 70% of eligible costs for market promotion, business development, and market set-up activities. It is designed to reduce the financial risk of international expansion for Singapore-registered businesses.

Who is eligible to apply?

+

Your company must be registered and operating in Singapore, hold at least 30% local equity (Singapore Citizens or PRs), be new to the target overseas market (sales under S$100,000 in any of the past 3 years), and have group turnover not exceeding S$100 million or fewer than 200 employees.

How much funding can my company receive?

+

SMEs can receive up to 70% of eligible costs, capped at S$100,000 per company per new market. The S$100,000 is split across three pillars: S$20,000 for market promotion, S$50,000 for business development, and S$30,000 for market set-up. Non-SMEs may receive different support levels depending on the programme assessment.

What costs are covered under MRA?

+

Eligible costs include consultancy fees, marketing and PR campaign expenses, trade fair participation costs, business development services, legal and documentation fees for market entry, IP registration, overseas incorporation, and salary support for staff deployed overseas for business development.

Can I apply for multiple markets at the same time?

+

Each application is limited to one activity in a single overseas market. However, you can submit separate applications for different markets or different activities — each subject to the S$100,000 per market cap. We help you prioritise and sequence your applications for maximum impact.

How long does the application process take?

+

Once we submit a complete application on your behalf, the assessment and approval process typically takes several weeks. The total timeline depends on the complexity of your project and the completeness of your documentation. We handle all follow-up communications to ensure timely processing.

What documents do I need to prepare?

+

You will need your company's financial statements for the past 3 years (audited or management accounts), a detailed project proposal, vendor quotes or agreements, and your ACRA business profile. Newly incorporated companies (under 1 year) may submit alternative supporting documents. We guide you through every document requirement.

Can I apply if I have already started my overseas project?

+

No. Retrospective applications are strictly not permitted. Projects that have already started, payments already made, or contracts already signed with vendors prior to application submission are ineligible. This is why early planning with Green Motion Academy is critical — we help you structure your project timeline correctly.

Is the MRA grant ending soon?

+

The government has announced that the existing grant structure will transition in the second half of 2026 as part of the broader EDGE refresh. MRA applications remain open now, but the window is closing. We strongly recommend starting your application process as soon as possible to secure funding under the current favourable terms.

How does Green Motion Academy help with the application?

+

We provide end-to-end application management: eligibility assessment, vendor identification, proposal writing, document compilation, submission via the Business Grants Portal, and ongoing communication with programme administrators until approval and disbursement. Our goal is to maximise your approval chances while saving you time and effort.
